Valentine's, Mother's Day and Eid in 2027: a gift-packing calendar for January to June

Valentine's Day 2027 is a Sunday, and Mothering Sunday, Eid and Easter all fall in March. A January to June packing calendar for small gift sellers.

In 2027, three big gift days fall inside three weeks of March.

Mothering Sunday is on 7 March, Eid al-Fitr is expected around 10 March, and Easter Sunday is on 28 March. Before that, Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday.

After a quiet April, May brings US Mother's Day on 9 May and Eid al-Adha around 17 May, and June ends the half-year with Father's Day on 20 June. If you sell gifts, February is the month that decides your spring.

Checked against official sources on 28 October 2026.

Gift orders differ from normal orders in one way that matters for packing. The person who opens the box is often not the person who paid. So the parcel has to protect the product, keep a surprise and leave out the price, all at once. I think this is where a small seller can beat a big one, because a small seller can still pack each gift by hand.

The 2027 gift dates, January to June

Occasion Date in 2027 Day Note
Valentine's Day 14 February Sunday Kept in many countries
Mothering Sunday 7 March Sunday UK and Ireland. Fourth Sunday of Lent
Eid al-Fitr About 10 March Wednesday Depends on the moon
Holi 22 or 23 March Monday or Tuesday India. Calendars differ
Easter Sunday 28 March Sunday Good Friday 26 March, Easter Monday 29 March
Mother's Day 9 May Sunday US. Second Sunday in May
Eid al-Adha About 17 May Monday Depends on the moon
Father's Day 20 June Sunday US. Third Sunday in June

We export packaging to 20+ countries, and the same gift day can fall on a different date in each of them. So here is where each date comes from, and you can check it yourself.

  1. Easter: the UK government bank holidays page lists Good Friday on 26 March and Easter Monday on 29 March 2027, which puts Easter Sunday on 28 March.
  2. Mothering Sunday: it is the fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter Sunday, so 7 March.
  3. US Mother's Day and Father's Day: US law sets them as the second Sunday in May and the third Sunday in June. Several other countries keep Mother's Day on the same Sunday in May, so check the day your own customers keep.
  4. Eid and Holi: the 2027 holiday list of the Government of India (office memorandum of 16 July 2026) gives Eid al-Fitr on 10 March and Eid al-Adha on 17 May. Both depend on the sighting of the moon, and other countries may keep them a day earlier or later. For Holi, that list gives 23 March, while the Drikpanchang calendar gives 22 March.

Five Sundays, and why that moves your deadline

Every occasion in the table except the two Eids and Holi falls on a Sunday in 2027.

That sounds harmless, but it changes your real deadline considerably. Many delivery services do not deliver on Sundays in every area. For most of your customers, a Sunday gift has to arrive by Saturday, and to be safe, by Friday.

So for each Sunday occasion, we work back from the Friday before it:

Your last order date = the Friday before the day, minus the delivery time of your service, minus the days you need to pack.

We check the weekend service of each carrier for the areas we ship to. It differs by carrier and by country, and I cannot list every one here.

March 2027: three gift days in three weeks

This is the stretch to plan carefully.

Mothering Sunday and Eid al-Fitr fall three days apart. If you sell in India too, Holi follows two weeks later. Easter closes the month, and in the UK the two bank holidays around it take out a Friday and a Monday.

Here is a rule of the trade I would follow for these weeks. Printed seasonal packaging is only useful until the day of the festival. After that, it sits in your store room for a year. We would rather use a plain gift box, plain tissue and a seasonal sticker or card. Together they cover all three occasions, and only the sticker is left over if you misjudge the demand.

How to pack a gift order

The usual packing method still applies. Our lesson on how to pack a parcel covers the steps. Gift orders need a few extra things on top.

  1. Gift wrap goes inside the shipping box, never as the outer layer. Wrapping paper tears in sorting machines, and the label must stick to a proper box or mailer.
  2. Protect the wrap. Put the wrapped gift in a layer of tissue or a paper bag before the filler goes in, so the filler does not scuff it. A flat ribbon or a sticker travels better than a bow, which gets crushed.
  3. Leave out the price. Use a gift packing slip without prices, or none at all.
  4. Copy the gift message exactly as the buyer wrote it, then check it once more before you seal the box. A spelling mistake in a name is the one error a gift card cannot survive.
  5. Keep the outer box plain. If your brand name gives away what is inside, and the buyer lives with the person receiving the gift, the surprise is gone at the door.
  6. Pack fragile gifts with extra care. Mugs, candles, glass and perfume need cushioning on every side. If you ship perfume or other liquids, read our lesson on packing liquids first.
  7. Watch the heat from April in hot countries. Chocolate and scented candles soften in a hot delivery vehicle. In hot months, use your fastest service for them and tell the buyer.

For the small touches inside the box, such as tissue, one sticker and a short card, our lesson on a better unboxing on a small budget goes further.

The calendar, month by month

January

  1. We order Valentine cards, stickers and tissue in the first week.
  2. Work out your last order date for 14 February from Friday 12 February, and put it on your website and listings.
  3. Order the plain gift boxes and neutral tissue that will carry you through March.

February

  1. Pack and dispatch Valentine orders in the first ten days of the month.
  2. Eid al-Fitr marks the close of Ramadan, so customers start looking for Eid gifts during that month. Have your Eid stock ready by early February.
  3. Set your last order dates for Mothering Sunday (work back from Friday 5 March) and for Eid.
  4. Count your stock in the last week of February and top it up for March.

March

  1. The first week is the busiest of the half-year: Mothering Sunday and Eid orders together.
  2. For Easter, plan for the UK bank holidays on Friday 26 and Monday 29 March. Aim for parcels to arrive before the long weekend begins.
  3. After Easter, count what is left of every seasonal item.

April

April is your quiet month in 2027. Use it.

  1. Look at the March numbers. What ran out, and what was left over?
  2. Order stock for May. If you sell into hot countries, plan heat protection for chocolate, candles and cosmetics.

May

  1. Mother's Day in the US is on Sunday 9 May, so we work back from Friday 7 May.
  2. Eid al-Adha is expected around Monday 17 May. Ship early enough to arrive a few days before.

June

  1. Father's Day is on Sunday 20 June, so we work back from Friday 18 June.
  2. In the last week of June, write one page on what worked in the first half. The second half of the year, with its own peak, starts planning in August. Our Black Friday 2027 packing calendar picks up from there.

One honest limit

I cannot promise you the Eid dates. They follow the sighting of the moon. I also cannot list the weekend rules of every carrier. What I can promise is that working back from the Friday before each date, with neutral packaging and a seasonal sticker, has fewer ways to go wrong than any other plan I know.

If you sell to customers abroad, our lesson on sending your first parcel abroad covers the paperwork. And if you are not sure how to protect a particular gift, tell us what it is through our contact page.

Questions buyers ask

Should a gift parcel show the price?

No. Use a gift packing slip without prices, or no slip at all, and put the sender's message on a card. If the parcel goes abroad, the customs papers on the outside must still show the real value. That rule does not change for gifts you sell.

Can I just gift wrap the item and stick the label on the wrapping paper?

No. Wrapping paper tears in sorting machines and labels do not hold well on it. Gift wrap goes inside a proper shipping box or mailer, with the label on the outside of that.

What if Eid falls on a different day where my customers live?

It may. Eid follows the sighting of the moon, and the day can differ by country and by a day either way. Plan your dispatch so parcels arrive a few days before the earliest likely date.
